Success of La Pérez: Thank you all for participating!

“La Pérez” has been a success and it is thanks to the 1,000 brave people who climbed this Saturday to the Bola del Puig Major. From Reciclajes y Metales Pérez we want to thank you for sharing with us this historic event that without you would not have been possible.

Finally, Luis Borrás (Qromia) and Mareen Hufe won the cyclosportive ‘De Pérez a la Bola del Puig Major: La Pérez’, held last April 1st, starting from the facilities of Reciclajes y Metales Pérez, main sponsor of the event, and finishing at the top of Puig Major, at 1,436 meters of altitude, in which 1,000 runners participated.

“La Pérez” has recovered, two years later, the mythical ascent to Puig Major, thanks to the collaboration of the Air Force’s Puig Major EVA7 Air Barracks and the sponsorship of Reciclajes y Metales Pérez. At 8:30 a.m. a thousand runners started the race, which consisted of 51.6 kilometers.

Conquering the roof of Mallorca, a peak that is not open to road traffic for military security reasons, was in itself a great incentive for the runners who participated, many of whom climbed for the first time to the top of Puig Major. But it was not the only one, because the organization raffled among the participants the Colnago V3RS bicycle of the champion Tadej Pogacar, valued at more than 15,000 euros, and the yellow jersey signed by the double winner of the Tour de France. The winner was Leonardo Suárez, who received this great prize at the end of the lunch and the prize-giving ceremony of the different categories, which took place inside the facilities of the Military Barracks, and which put the finishing touch to a day of cycling, excitement and great sporting atmosphere in an incomparable environment.

Undoubtedly, La Pérez has been a success that has also been echoed by the media of the Balearic Islands: Última Hora, Diario de Mallorca, Mallorcadiario or IB3 Notícies tell how this exciting day took place.

Thanks for writing with us a page in the history of cycling in the Balearic Islands! See you in the next adventure!
